What’s In The Bible DVD Giveaway

in brands, education, entertainment, faith, families, giveaways, latinos, parenting, reviews, technology on 05/11/11

A few weeks ago MamiofMultiples.com announced that we were selected to be an official member of the What’s in the Bible? Street Team. We have been a fan of the series since it was first introduced to us last year by Tyndale House Publishers.  We were immediately captured by the fun and educational experience it was for the entire family and became an official stop on the What’s in the Bible? blog tour launch.

What’s in the Bible? is a DVD series from VeggieTales creator, Phil Vischer, designed to walk kids and families through the entire Bible.

Phil Vischer

VeggieTales, the groundbreaking Christian cartoon showcased the breakout stars of Larry the Cucumber and Bob the Tomato. One of the reasons Phil has created What’s in the Bible? is to answer the call placed in his heart to help today’s youth and keep them engaged.  Many children of this generation not only do not know what is inside a bible, but stop going to church all together once they reach their teen years.

The What’s In The Bible? 13 DVD-series takes viewers through each book of the Bible and helps to answer some of the commonly asked questions:

  • Who wrote the Bible?
  • How do we know we can trust it?
  • How does it affect our lives?
  • How do all of these stories fit together to tell ONE story?

What’s In The Bible? features a cast of characters that truly range from the comedy club to the church. Buck Denver is the “CNN” type news host; Clive and Evan are the smart & not so smart safari adventure brothers; Chuck Wagon is the honky-tonk country singer; Sunday School Lady is the all-knowing Sunday school teacher; and there is Winifred and Agnes, the American Idol type judges critiquing the show.

The series captures the attention and explains the main themes of each book of the Bible in a concise and kid-friendly manner. Already a fast hit among parents, children, teachers, churches, What’s In the Bible? DVDs 1-4 are available for purchase and/or download.

DVD# 5, Israel Gets a King!, the newest addition in the series, is now available for purchase.  In Israel Gets a King, Buck Denver and cast take us through 1 and 2 Samuel. The two episodes focus on three of the most influential kings of Israel (Saul, David, and Solomon).  The Tricky Bits section explains the Trinity (after we learn that the Spirit of the Lord fell upon David). The DVD highlights God’s promise to David and how the promise impacts the salvation story.  Also featured is what happens when David (and the other kings) sin against God. (Check out the trailer and clips for DVD# 5 at http://www.youtube.com/whatsinthebible and http://whatsinthebible.com/category/videos/clips/dvd-5/).

My children (13 yr. old  and twin 3 yr. old boys) really enjoyed learning more about the story of David. Being familiar with the epic tale of David and Goliath, the story came to life in Israel Gets a King!  Learning about the joys and struggles David encountered as King, created a personal connection for my children to the Old Testament books.

Thanks to the Street Team, we are hosting a gift certificate giveaway, good for a copy of the
DVD# 5, Israel Gets a King!

My favorite? Oh, wow… I think my favorite episode was the one where they were explaining all of the rules. Everybody does videos on Genesis, and the first part of Exodus. I think What’s in the Bible really was shining when they started taking on the law and rules and all that — the stuff that most children’s Bibles skip (aside from the Ten Commandments)

The holidays can be beautiful… but for many grieving parents — especially special needs parents — this season hurts in ways most people never see.

Between disrupted routines, sensory overload, and the ache of missing someone you love, December can feel overwhelming. And here’s what most don’t realize:

Nearly HALF of Christians stop attending church after losing a loved one… not because they’ve lost their faith, but because they feel the church doesn’t know how to walk with them through grief.
These families aren’t leaving God —
they’re leaving because they feel unseen in their pain.

As someone who advocates for families of ALL abilities, I’m sharing a new blog post today on how we can support grieving loved ones — especially special needs parents — with compassion, faith, and presence this holiday season.

If someone in your life is grieving, please don’t stay silent.
Say their loved one’s name.
Offer specific help.
Create space for their emotions.
Pray with them.
Walk with them — gently, consistently, faithfully.

Because no parent should have to grieve alone during the holidays.

🏆 Earlier this week, I was once again filled with thankfulness, love, and faith.
🏆 I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Home Health Care USA for naming me the “Latina American Caregiver of the Year!”
🏆 Caregivers are among the unsung heroes in our society, and there are many different types of caregivers. For instance, the “Sandwich Generation” refers to individuals who are caring for both their aging parents and their children simultaneously. These caregivers often provide physical, emotional, and financial support. More than 50% of Americans in their 40s and 50s are currently caring for both their children and their senior parents—and usually without any help from extended family.
🏆 Some caregivers dedicate their entire lives to caring for a child—or children—with disabilities into adulthood. Unfortunately, many caregiving parents or family members do not get a break or have quality time for themselves. About 50% of couples with special needs or neurodiverse children end up getting divorced.
🏆 Having experienced both of these caregiving situations and still living within them, being named “Latina American Caregiver of the Year” means more to me than just an award. It symbolizes the millions of unpaid caretakers across the country who provide loving, effective care for family members or friends.
🏆 I also want to extend my gratitude to all those who have followed my caregiving journey the past 17 years, including my care for my beloved late parents and my superhero, Joshua, on my social channels, Mami of Multiples, and Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell. The BEST is yet to come! 🙌
🌎 Lastly, congratulations to all my fellow winners standing on stage. Your work in your communities helps make the world a better place!
