With students out of school and vacations being planned, the summer provides a wonderful opportunity to relax, spend time together as a family and help to create those memorable moments in life. Being a digital mom and business owner, I try to capture those fun unexpected moments with the kids or those times when all the family is gathered together. Yet, as most women and moms can relate, when you look over the pictures or videos, you can usually find one person missing…YOU!
Though I have my fair share of selfies and work/social media photos, I’m usually the one behind the camera, iPhone, iPad, camcorder, etc. running to try to “capture the moment” (and usually giving instructions on how to “pose” for the picture too). I’m the photographer, videographer, light designer, makeup artist, costume coordinator and director of my life’s visual concepts. Though I’m present for all the major (and everyday) events, I want my presence to be represented in images and videos. I want to give my children a foundation of our family legacy that they will be able to carry (and show) their own families one day.
With building a new home, we have been calmly decorating our home and I wanted to find a picture frame that could hold some of our family photos and get a gift for a friend that was getting married. I already was getting my friend gifts from her bridal registry, I wanted to get a unique gift that hold some emotional and sentimental value so I headed to my local Hallmark store. As I kept looking around the store, I found “thank you” gifts that would be perfect to give during the summer, i.e. summer camp helpers, swim instructors, real estate agent etc.
I knew that the bride liked the Willow Tree figurines and I found one that I felt would hold a special meaning to her and commemorate her wedding day with her soon-to-be groom.
I was happy to find a picture frame that I felt truly showcased our family values. It says the word FAMILY, has a picture of large tree with many branches (symbolizes a family tree) and displays the phrase, Founded in FAITH, Joined by LOVE and Kept by God. I think the frame expresses the essence of my family.
