When you look at your child or teen’s phone or tablet, there are probably many social apps you don’t recognize. There are many hidden or vault apps, which pose dangers and many times go under the radar — disguising themselves as every day tools, such as calculators. Look at the social apps below that parents should be on the lookout for and monitoring.

Blendr
Omegle
Down
Grindr
Apps that are popular among teens but should be used with caution (young children and preteens should NOT use these apps):
Snapchat
Kik Messenger
Anonymous apps that allow users to post anonymously which can lead to cyber bullying:
Yik Yak
Ask.FM
Whisper
Remember the importance of talking with your child or teen about managing their digital life for their own protection and safety.
