Nancy Clara: César, back in May you visited Miami during eMerge Americas to build bridges between South Florida’s tech ecosystem and Europe. How was Málaga’s pitch as a rising hub for capital and innovation received by the American market, and what key partnerships are you bringing back from that trip? 

César Caballero: The reception was extraordinarily positive. What we noticed in Miami is a massive interest in discovering new innovation hubs outside traditional markets. Málaga sparked tremendous curiosity due to its blend of talent, high quality of life, international connectivity, and a business ecosystem that has matured rapidly in recent years.

During eMerge Americas, we held meetings with venture capital funds, tech corporations, accelerators, and institutions that view Málaga as a natural gateway to the European market. That was precisely our goal: to demonstrate that Gateway Summit is not just an event, but a platform designed to create real connections between both continents.

We are returning with strategic collaboration agreements, new international partners, and, above all, commitments from numerous U.S. and Latin American investors and companies who will join us in Málaga this October to explore joint investment, expansion, and innovation opportunities.

NC: Gateway Summit stands out for its disruptive, airport-inspired concept featuring spaces like the “Pitching Runway” and “Takeoff Talks.” How is the agenda structured for this upcoming October edition, and what are the main thematic priorities? 

CC: From the very beginning, we wanted to break away from the traditional conference format. The airport concept reflects our core philosophy: Gateway Summit is a connecting hub where ideas take flight, capital meets high-impact projects, and connections turn into real opportunities.

That is why this edition's agenda balances top-tier content, investment, networking, and immersive experiences. In addition to keynotes and panel discussions, we are featuring formats like the Pitching Runway, where 10 finalist startups will pitch directly to investors, alongside specialized workshops, deal-making meetings, dynamic activities, and an Experience Zone where attendees can engage directly with innovation through live demos and applied technologies.

Thematically, we are focusing on the major tech trends driving the global landscape: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, FinTech, EdTech, HealthTech, SpaceTech, Smart Cities, Connected Mobility, Tokenization, Bitcoin, Real Estate, Tourism, and Impact Investing, among others.

Investment will play a particularly central role. Among our new formats, we are launching an initiative bringing together around 20 investors to build a live, practical guide on how startups are evaluated and how investment decisions are made—sharing criteria and decision-making processes that usually happen behind closed doors.

One of our most unique formats centers around venture funding. Led by Iván García Berjano, we are gathering approximately 20 investors to construct a live, practical masterclass on startup investing. The goal is to demystify the investment “black box” by openly discussing what investors look for, the critical questions they ask, green flags, red flags, and the deciding factors behind funding choices.

We will also host highly practical sessions, such as Reental’s workshop focused on making alternative investments accessible, and "Tres en Forma"—a dynamic masterclass featuring three of Spain's most renowned investors: Jesús Alonso Gallo, Rodolfo Carpintier, and Néstor Salvador Boichenco, tailored toward business growth and scaleup strategy.

We are taking this hands-on philosophy beyond the stage as well. Our interactive Experience Zone will feature live tech demonstrations, Web3/gaming showcases, and immersive experiences, allowing attendees to see and test emerging innovations firsthand.
