God and Me 365 Daily Devotional for Children Giveaway

in brands, education, faith, families, giveaways, multiples, parenting, reviews on 02/25/14

The twins are in kindergarten and learning new concepts are part of everyday life.  We have always read to the twins daily as part of our custom.  Now that they are in kindergarten, we log the books we read to them (or that they read as practice) for their reading progress at school.   As a nightly routine, we like the last book read to have godly content so that the twins can rest with peaceful thoughts in their minds.  Being a Tommy Nelson Mommy, offered me the opportunity to review God and Me, a colorful kid-centered daily devotional.

Photo

What I really enjoyed about each devotional is that they are focused on topics that affect children everyday, i.e., arguing, taking turns, feeling shy, fears at night, playing with friends, etc. The short posts (which are direct and perfect for all kids who usually tend to have short attention spans) discuss a common child-issue and asks questions so that the children can think about their own actions and say what they would do.  A complimentary bible story or verse is included along with a brief kid-friendly prayer.

The common background theme with all the devotionals is introducing and showcasing God’s love for children (and adults).  Through encouragement and situations that children face, each devotional teaches about how God cares for them, what God is like and how He want wants them to live.  As is the case with most children, our twins think about God as He affects their own personal life – its something they own.  They think about how God wants them to behave at school or at home.  Just like when they say “My Mommy” (even though they are twins and share the same Mom) they relate everything as it relates directly to them…My Teacher, My Daddy, My Big Brother etc.  The devotional are fashioned as a two-way conversation between the child and the devotional to make it easier for them to understand.

God and Me, through its short child-friendly and familiar topics, is helping children to develop a relationship with God and a positive relationship with the world around them everyday.

I have been looking for a devotional that was at a level where my 6 year old daughter could understand. There are so many devotionals but some go over the heads of kids so I’m happy to learn about God and Me. Thanks for the giveaway,

The holidays can be beautiful… but for many grieving parents — especially special needs parents — this season hurts in ways most people never see.

Between disrupted routines, sensory overload, and the ache of missing someone you love, December can feel overwhelming. And here’s what most don’t realize:

Nearly HALF of Christians stop attending church after losing a loved one… not because they’ve lost their faith, but because they feel the church doesn’t know how to walk with them through grief.
These families aren’t leaving God —
they’re leaving because they feel unseen in their pain.

As someone who advocates for families of ALL abilities, I’m sharing a new blog post today on how we can support grieving loved ones — especially special needs parents — with compassion, faith, and presence this holiday season.

If someone in your life is grieving, please don’t stay silent.
Say their loved one’s name.
Offer specific help.
Create space for their emotions.
Pray with them.
Walk with them — gently, consistently, faithfully.

Because no parent should have to grieve alone during the holidays.

🏆 Earlier this week, I was once again filled with thankfulness, love, and faith.
🏆 I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Home Health Care USA for naming me the “Latina American Caregiver of the Year!”
🏆 Caregivers are among the unsung heroes in our society, and there are many different types of caregivers. For instance, the “Sandwich Generation” refers to individuals who are caring for both their aging parents and their children simultaneously. These caregivers often provide physical, emotional, and financial support. More than 50% of Americans in their 40s and 50s are currently caring for both their children and their senior parents—and usually without any help from extended family.
🏆 Some caregivers dedicate their entire lives to caring for a child—or children—with disabilities into adulthood. Unfortunately, many caregiving parents or family members do not get a break or have quality time for themselves. About 50% of couples with special needs or neurodiverse children end up getting divorced.
🏆 Having experienced both of these caregiving situations and still living within them, being named “Latina American Caregiver of the Year” means more to me than just an award. It symbolizes the millions of unpaid caretakers across the country who provide loving, effective care for family members or friends.
🏆 I also want to extend my gratitude to all those who have followed my caregiving journey the past 17 years, including my care for my beloved late parents and my superhero, Joshua, on my social channels, Mami of Multiples, and Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell. The BEST is yet to come! 🙌
🌎 Lastly, congratulations to all my fellow winners standing on stage. Your work in your communities helps make the world a better place!
