Dora and Friends: Into the City! DVD Debut and Giveaway

in brands, contributors, education, entertainment, families, giveaways, latinos, parenting, reviews on 02/09/15

Nickelodeon’s new hit preschool series, Dora and Friends: Into the City!  stars our favorite explorer Dora, now as a pre-teen. Dora now lives in a city, Playa Verde, where she attends school and goes on adventures with her group of friends – Kate, Naiya, Emma, Alana, and Pablo.
The Dora and Friends: Into the City!  DVD features four music-filled adventures with Dora and her friends, with an interactive curriculum focusing on community service, problem solving, emotional skills, Spanish Language and Latino culture. During these adventures, Dora uses her trusty map app on her smartphone and a magical charm bracelet to navigate her city.

My children and I had the opportunity to watch and review Dora and Friends  and we all loved it!. My children are huge Dora and Diego fans, but this was their first time ever seeing the older Dora. To say they were excited is an understatement, my girls were screaming for joy when I told them we were going to watch Dora as a pre-teen! Even my son, who is a tough critic, was impressed by the older Dora, but he said his favorite character is Pablo.

We are Going to The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration

I really loved that Dora and Friends was well received by not only my daughters, but also my son. The colorful characters, such as Boots the monkey and Benny the bull, from the original Dora series are gone but the Dora and Friends series makes up for it with a lively and diverse cast of friends!
Dora and Friends DVD includes the following episodes:
  • We Save a Pirate Ship! – Dora and her friends are at a Pirate Festival to benefit the restoration of the city’s ancient seaside fort, and Dora promised a little boy named Jorge that he could steer the festival’s pirate ship ride. But when the pirate ship ride doesn’t show up, Dora, Kate and Pablo must build their own. They find an enchanted ship’s wheel that takes them to a talking pirate ship with secret treasures.
  • The Magic Ring – Dora and Naiya are helping out at story time with the younger kids at school when Pablo discovers a mysterious ring that shrinks him. Dora and Naiya search through the library and find the secret of the ring, discovering that it’s been stolen and lost by an evil wizard from long ago. The only way the spell can be broken is by putting the ring back on the owner’s finger, an ancient princess.
  • The Royal Ball – Dora and her friends are having a Royal Ball in honor of all the kids who helped clean up the city park. Dora and Alana head to the costume shop to get dresses, and find a golden gift box with a beautiful dress that’s perfect for Alana. The golden box comes to life and tells them that the dress is for the princess – it’s his job to get it to her! The box magically transports them to the royal grounds where they must escape a dragon and rescue the box from crocodiles.
  • Dance Party – Dora and her friends are putting on a dance party to raise money for the town’s new dance school. Alana convinces Pablo to teach her a simple step as a mirror ball magically transports them and Dora to the land of Baila, where they meet Celia. She explains to them that her overprotective father, the mayor, has outlawed dancing after she stubbed her toe at her first dance. Celia needs Dora and her friends’ help to convince the mayor that dancing is safe and fun.
Created by Nickelodeon and distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution, Dora and Friends arrives on DVD on February 10, 2015.  If your child(ren) loved Dora’s original series they will love Dora and Friends: Into the City!
To jumpstart the DVD debut, we are offering a Dora and Friends: Into the City! DVD along with Dora and Friends  toys! The following are the toys that will be offered with the DVD:

The holidays can be beautiful… but for many grieving parents — especially special needs parents — this season hurts in ways most people never see.

Between disrupted routines, sensory overload, and the ache of missing someone you love, December can feel overwhelming. And here’s what most don’t realize:

Nearly HALF of Christians stop attending church after losing a loved one… not because they’ve lost their faith, but because they feel the church doesn’t know how to walk with them through grief.
These families aren’t leaving God —
they’re leaving because they feel unseen in their pain.

As someone who advocates for families of ALL abilities, I’m sharing a new blog post today on how we can support grieving loved ones — especially special needs parents — with compassion, faith, and presence this holiday season.

If someone in your life is grieving, please don’t stay silent.
Say their loved one’s name.
Offer specific help.
Create space for their emotions.
Pray with them.
Walk with them — gently, consistently, faithfully.

Because no parent should have to grieve alone during the holidays.

🏆 Earlier this week, I was once again filled with thankfulness, love, and faith.
🏆 I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Home Health Care USA for naming me the “Latina American Caregiver of the Year!”
🏆 Caregivers are among the unsung heroes in our society, and there are many different types of caregivers. For instance, the “Sandwich Generation” refers to individuals who are caring for both their aging parents and their children simultaneously. These caregivers often provide physical, emotional, and financial support. More than 50% of Americans in their 40s and 50s are currently caring for both their children and their senior parents—and usually without any help from extended family.
🏆 Some caregivers dedicate their entire lives to caring for a child—or children—with disabilities into adulthood. Unfortunately, many caregiving parents or family members do not get a break or have quality time for themselves. About 50% of couples with special needs or neurodiverse children end up getting divorced.
🏆 Having experienced both of these caregiving situations and still living within them, being named “Latina American Caregiver of the Year” means more to me than just an award. It symbolizes the millions of unpaid caretakers across the country who provide loving, effective care for family members or friends.
🏆 I also want to extend my gratitude to all those who have followed my caregiving journey the past 17 years, including my care for my beloved late parents and my superhero, Joshua, on my social channels, Mami of Multiples, and Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell. The BEST is yet to come! 🙌
🌎 Lastly, congratulations to all my fellow winners standing on stage. Your work in your communities helps make the world a better place!
