As a wife and mother of a teen and toddler twins family entertainment is important to us. Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies original animated comedy-adventure RANGO all has the components to become a family favorite – action, drama, comedy, romance and learning not only to value those around you but one’s self.
Featuring Johnny Depp the story follows the comical, transformative journey of Rango (Depp), a sheltered chameleon living as an ordinary family pet, while facing a major identity crisis. After all, how high can you aim when your whole purpose in life is to blend in? When Rango accidentally winds up in the gritty, gun-slinging town of Dirt – a lawless outpost populated by the desert’s most wily and whimsical creatures – the less-than-courageous lizard suddenly finds he stands out. Welcomed as the last hope the town has been waiting for, new Sheriff Rango is forced to play his new role to the hilt . . . until, in a blaze of action-packed situations and encounters with outrageous characters, Rango starts to become the hero he once only pretended to be. With a cast that includes Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone and Timothy Olyphant as the Spirit of the West, Rango is an exciting new twist on the classic Western legend of the outsider who saves a town and himself in the process.
Unlike most animated movies, RANGO was not shot with the actors performing their lines in a booth, but acting them out in motion capture suits. Depp labeled the process “emotion capture,” noting that he and the other actors in RANGO used gestures, body movements, eye movements, and facial expressions to perform the story, which the animators would then transform into the completed characters in each scene. Actress Isla Fisher, who co-stars with Depp in the movie, said, “The characters had humanity because we were interacting with each other, and more chemistry. So, it felt more organic and real.” (MovieGuide.org)

I would love to have this movies for our family movie night. Not only does it have Johnny Depp (actibg) but it will tell a story that is both entertaining and inspirational.
I heard it is a little too naughty for the 7-year-old…but perfect for the grown-ups.
