Design Skin Play Mat for Kids {+ $250 Candy Model Play Mat And $50 Gift Card Giveaway}

in brands, education, families, giveaways, parenting, reviews, savings on 04/23/17

Being a wife, mom to 4 boys (ranging in ages from 19 years old to 22 months old), caregiver helper to my parents, mompreneur, etc., my days are busy and full.  With a constant involved schedule, its not a luxury but a necessity to have useful products that can help daily life.  Quality is very important to me (like it is with most parents).  High-quality products have many benefits like financial savings, i.e., not having to repeatedly spend money (and create another unnecessary shopping trip wasting time and gas) to purchase products that frequently don’t work. Products made for children endure the hard test of being consistently–often roughly–by little (and tough) hands.  Finding a product that not only is made from high-quality materials, can be used for various functions, is durable and is made specifically for children to enhance their creative and imaginative play is truly a valuable investment.

Design Skin makes high-quality and multi-purpose furniture for babies and children.  The designs are truly multi-functional because the products can transform from play gear to working furniture.  Design Skin offers various types of play mats that convert into furniture.  After learning about the transformable designs, we wanted to share another model from Design Skin called Candy Play Mat.

The transformable Candy Play Mat is a high-quality four stage basic folding mat that is angled as a tunnel or stacked like a couch. The Candy Play Mat is available in Milk and Fruit colors. The product features include:

• 4 stage basic folding mat

• Angle as a tunnel or stacked like a couch

• Non-toxic, harmless, soft materials

• Noise reduction and sound proofing

• Light pieces

• Rounded corners

• Can be used for children and infants starting at the age of 2 months old +

Design Skin play mats are “soft feel” and covered with a mixture of polyurethane and polyester for long-lasting (and kid-proof) material. The PU material is very elastic, strong and no chemical agent is used for the PU.  The entire product is hand-made from stitching through finish to ensure quality. The comb-teeth pattern of the mat, where children play and jump on, prevents slipperiness. The foam is shock absorption and uses a filling material found in beds and chairs to withstand daily children’s play.  Its lightweight to move, sturdy, and helps with sound reduction to create a safer environment for children to play.  The ease of the Candy Model frame allows children to create their own play and imaginative environment.

Thanks to Design Skin, we are hosting a giveaway of their Candy Play Mat (valued at $250.00) and also giving away a $50 gift card! Design Skin products are available in various colors and design types.  They are also available at most online and retail stores like Walmart, Buy Buy Baby, Bed Bath & Beyond, Toys ‘R Us, Overstock.com, Amazon.com, etc.

🤍 🇨🇺 🇺🇸 🕊️ Grief and Daddy’s Little Girl.

Daddy, six years ago today, you entered eternity. Your courage on 9/11 helped others survive but ultimately cost you your life. You are now officially recognized among its victims.

Mommy passed in January. Nine months later came my MS diagnosis. A year later, on September 6, I lost you—five days before 9/11. Oh, September. We used to be friends because of fall and all things pumpkin. Not anymore.

This photo takes me back outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral. You were about to speak beside Rev. Jesse Jackson at a rally for 7,000 workers displaced by sugar refinery closures. I was seven. You handed me the mic, and I joked that kids loved sugar, families needed jobs, and we had to “keep hope alive.” I only wanted to make you proud—and get the steak sandwich and ice cream you’d promised near the World Trade Center.

Grief doesn’t take a holiday. “The death of a beloved is an amputation.” —C.S. Lewis

My parents taught me to serve and bloom where God planted me. Joshua’s special-needs diagnosis turned my grief into advocacy and a nonprofit for families. Service is our legacy and biblical calling.

But the Church must do better after loss—not only at funerals, but through the months, years, birthdays, and anniversaries. Grief is lifelong, not a race. Heaven doesn’t erase how deeply we miss their presence. Shepherding means calling, listening, and showing up so no one feels invisible or alone.

To those touched by how I honor my parents, thank you. To anyone grieving a loved one, disability, or special-needs parenting: I see you. You’re not alone. Jeremiah 29:11.

To the sweet mama in the UK: throw the plates if you need to. Jesus wept. Jesus got angry. He understands. Call me.

I know Mommy and Daddy are proud, yet my heart and soul are heavy. As the 25th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, I’ll go to NYC alone to honor Daddy.

Te amamos para siempre. 🤍

P.S. If anyone hears the rapture trumpets while I’m gone, tell God I have a VIP Express ticket—and I don’t mind pushing a few people out of the way. 🥹😇😂

👩🏻‍🏫 Friday was Open House and Meet the Teacher for our superhero, Joshua. He will be in a new school, with new teachers, and a completely different environment. So much prayer, effort, hard work, tears, advocacy, strength, and God’s continued faithfulness have brought us to this appointed time at @thedreamacademyfl.
👩🏻‍🏫 Friday was also the day we met someone we had never met before: Mr. Joshua “Romance Casanova” Campbell. He is self-taught, and we believe his ancestral DNA—Cuban, Puerto Rican, Spaniard, and Italian—is what caused this to emerge. 🤣♥️
👩🏻‍🏫 It was the laugh God knew we needed.
👩🏻‍🏫 Last year, on October 11, #WorldMentalHealthDay, I posted the following words: “What was meant for harm will be turned around for good. This temporary test will be added to our testimony. As a mother, advocate, and #SpecialNeeds Pastor, we move forward the same way we always have, especially where Joshua is concerned—in total faith. Some things happen that we don’t understand why they are happening at the time or place they did. Only God knows the answer to that. (Deuteronomy 29:29). All we have to do is trust and believe that He knows what is best. He wants us to live a whole and abundant life. (John 10:10). Joshua’s life verse is “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). His life has already been the launchpad and inspiration of @hopetorchlighters and Hope Buddy Break, which has supported and empowered many VIP families since 2018. This sweet boy will continue to thrive, and God will continue to use Him!”
👩🏻‍🏫 If Friday was any indication, then we prayerfully believe he will have a blessed and happy school year. He truly deserves it! Thankful for all the teachers, staff, and therapists, and covering them and their homes in prayer for this new school year. 🙏💙 #TeamJoshua #JoshuaAngels #thedreamacademyfl

The journey of being a parent and caregiver to a VIP child or adult with medical or neurodiverse needs is unlike any other. It can be a daily battle across states (and countries) to find quality care and services that are needed for their proper development. It's why one of our goals at @hopetorchlighters torchlighters for the past 8 years has been to continue sharing resources and providers that are not only “insurance approved” but also “VIP approved”. Our superhero has been blessed with wonderful occupational therapists throughout his journey. Among them is First Steps Therapy @firststeptllc in Leesburg, and we are grateful to Ms. Sarah, Ms. Denise, and to be reunited with Ms. Dee again. 🙌 #OT #autism #specialneedsparenting #hopetorchlighters

🕊️Happy Heavenly Birthday, My Beautiful Mommy! You are deeply missed and loved every day. Your influence is felt in many ways, from the endless love you gave and your wonderful sense of humor to the strength of character and faith you carried. You consistently supported numerous people, organizations, businesses, non-profits, and churches for over 50 years.
🕊️It is very important to me—and to your grandsons—to continue honoring you (and Daddy) on your special days and by living a life that reflects the trailblazing lives you both led. More than that, it’s the faith and love you instilled in us. The loss still feels fresh, as if it happened yesterday. When someone irreplaceable is no longer physically with you, it’s not something you simply “get over.”
🕊️ I am grateful that I saw how you and Dad handled your grief over losing your parents. You both kept living fully, enjoying all of God’s blessings while still honoring, remembering, and grieving for your parents—my beloved grandparents—for the rest of your lives. As the end approached for both of you, just 18 months apart, you both gave me the greatest gifts any daughter, who was also your caregiver, could ever ask for; you both told me how proud and thankful they were of me as a woman, mother, daughter, in my career, and in the life I had chosen to be with them. It was a blessing from God that I could be with you throughout my life and in your final moments.
🕊️ Thank you for being my Mommy, my best friend, the best Mama for your grandsons, and everything I could ever need. I will love you for all eternity.
