The Florida Aquariumis the perfect place to take the entire family. It has more than 20,000 aquatic plants and animals. Not only is it conveniently located in downtown Tampa, it has ample paid-parking and is situated right at the Channel District which has unique shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. It’s very easy and convenient to make a whole day’s worth trip in this area.
If just walking around the expansive building and enjoying the amazing wildlife isn’t enough, the aquarium also has additional opportunities for more in-depth exploration. Some of these family friendly attractions include a Swim with the Fishes Tour, a Wild Dolphin Cruise, Dive with the Sharks, Up-close encounters in the Coral Reef Exhibit and an opportunity for you to book your own private event.
The Aquariums hosts 5 exhibits from the Wetland Trails through Madagascar down to the Coral Reef, a brief get to know the local animals at the Bays and Beaches and a final stop at Ocean Commotion where you get to test your knowledge and a chance to win the Golden Gill Award!
No Bone Zone—hands on! The girls loved touching the star fish, sea urchins and much more. It was a slimy experience for sure!
Our Journey through Madagascar brought us to lemurs, chameleons and have you ever heard cockroaches hissing? We did! A bit creepy but you won’t forget it, that’s for sure.
Here in the Coral Reef, we found Nemo! Do you see him?
If you ever want to head outside, The Florida Aquarium has recently opened, The Splash Pad. It’s a rainforest themed water play area featuring water dump buckets, spray zones and a designated water play area for toddlers. Don’t want to get wet? The Splash Pad also features a dry area for kids to climb and play on.
Our entire family, from adult to toddler had a wonderful time at The Florida Aquarium. If you are visiting the Tampa Bay area, it is a definite must-see! We will be visiting again soon and hopefully we will get on that Wild Dolphin Cruise! (See more pictures in the slideshow below).
