Get Creative with DIY Halloween Costumes at Goodwill (+ $25 Gift Card Giveaway)

Growing up, Halloween was one of the biggest holidays in my household! My mother was a costume making superstar! I’m talking, banana trees, caterpillars, and life size baby bottles! Though I have a long way to go before matching her creative abilities, I have one tool my mom didn’t … the wonderful world of Pinterest-inspiration! So with a little browsing, motivation, and hubby’s blessing, I packed up my spunky toddler and set out for materials at our local Goodwill Industries of Central Florida store!

 Goodwill Industries of Central Florida

I arrived with the idea that we would be Disney & Pixar’s Finding Nemo characters.  I’d figure out the specifics based on what materials were available and Goodwill did not disappoint!

If you aren’t looking to create a costume yourself, they have a huge selection of already made costumes right now. There were five or six racks with anything from princess dresses and wigs to masks and costume make up. I actually got to chatting with another mom, who was also shopping for Halloween costumes, while we were there and we both were pleased with vast selections and very affordable prices.

We were able to find all our main DIY materials at Goodwill.  With a little creativity and our Goodwill finds, Payton will be dressed as Nemo, my husband, David, will be Dory and I will be a Jellyfish for Halloween this year!

Halloween costumes are typically only worn once, so why not find a low-cost costume and help support our community in the process? When we shop at or donate to Goodwill, we are helping to keep items out of landfills and funding job training and placement programs that assist Central Floridians with barriers to employment. This includes people with disabilities, those with limited work history, military veterans transitioning to civilian jobs, as well as others within the community.

In 2015, Goodwill served approximately 42,000 people in its Job Connection Centers across Central Florida!

After Halloween, please consider donating your costumes to Goodwill instead of packing them away in the attic. With convenient drop-off sites and dozens of stores, it’s easy to make a donation…and to make a lasting impact in your community. To find a location near you, visit www.goodwillcfl.org

Thanks to our friends at Goodwill, we are giving away a $25 Goodwill gift card to help you create your own DIY Halloween costume and help support our communities!  One winner will be chosen at random. No purchase necessary.  You can enter the giveaway more than once using the Rafflecopter entry form below.

Sprinkles {Savor the Newest Yummy Treats at Disney Springs}

Sprinkles—now open at the new town center of Disney Springs (use to be Downtown Disney).

sprinkles-disney-springs

It is considered one of the first cupcake bakeries,  established in 2005, in Beverly Hills, CA.  Sprinkles offers an array of seasonal, vegan, gluten-free and sugar-free cupcake, cookie and ice-cream selections. You definitely can find a delicious treat for whatever your sweet tooth craves.  It offers a loyalty program just by signing up via email where you attain different levels of membership—vanilla, dark chocolate and red velvet. These membership levels can you a free cupcake on your birthday to skipping straight to the front of the line at any of their locations.

sprinkles-cupcakes

Our family, Disney lovers to say the least, had to give this new bakery a try.  We heard the lines were long and most times wrapped around a few times as people couldn’t wait to get their hands on these delectable treats.

(Insider Tip: One of the best time to visit is between 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.)

We didn’t have to wait in line at all, we literally walked right up to the counter. The cast members warmly greets you with a huge smile and willing to answer any questions.  Not sure what flavor of ice cream to get—not to worry—they offer free sampling flavors.  They even offer suggestions of what flavor compliments your cupcake of choice and will offer tips on how to save money as you try not to grab one of everything!

After placing our order, just slide on down to the pick-up area where you can watch the bakers in action frosting each cupcake meticulously by hand.

One of the coolest thing for the girls was purchasing a cupcake from an ATM.  That’s right, an ATM.  You just make your selection from a drop down menu, swipe your card and out pops out a cupcake completely boxed and ready-to-go for any of you that want to get your sweet fix on the run!

There is ample amount of seating on the umbrella-covered patio which offers great shade from the heat of the day.  We grabbed a seat and were ready for the taste test. From the ATM, the girls purchased a Red-velvet cupcake that was absolutely delicious—my favorite for sure. It was super moist and the frosting was the right amount of a dollop that it didn’t take away from the cake itself.  At the counter, we ordered a banana cupcake with strawberry ice cream.

This was definitely a tasty treat that was both yummy and cooled us off a bit as we explored the brand new town center!

Visit Sprinkles.com for information.

Enjoy!

10 Tips for a Memorable Multigenerational Walt Disney World Trip

In today’s busy world, families want to create unforgettable memories together and there is no better place to enjoy quality time than at Walt Disney World Resort.   From the beginning, of coming to Walt Disney World annually with my parents, starting at the age of 6 months old, to having my honeymoon at Walt Disney World and now raising my children next to Walt Disney World, the magic that is Disney has been an important part of our lives.

Sharing the experience of Walt Disney World not only with my husband and older children but also with my parents and my infant baby has been very special and important to our family. My parents are in their senior years and I ’am the youngest of their children. The baby marks their 15th grandchild and my 4th child. My children are fortunately being raised alongside my parents and their grandparents. These memories of time spent together are among the most cherished memories we all share as a family.

I was once again honored and thankful to be invited to this year’s Disney Social Media Moms Celebration #DisneySMMCA wonderful opportunity to be able to bring my parents, aunt (my mom’s sister and great-aunt to my children) and twin boys.  As we have often traveled with my parents and older family members, the following are tips we have learned when planning a multigenerational Walt Disney World trip:

10 tips for a multigenerational walt disney world trip

1.
Think About the Time of Year You Want to Visit and Packing Your Bags

Be sure to consider temperatures, especially when older family members are on a trip.  The hot Florida sun can seem punishing when outdoors for long periods of time and for those with health or outdoor restrictions.  Think if the cooler (and often less-crowded) months like January – May and October – December will be better suited for those in your family.  If summer is best for your schedule, there are many special offers for summer travel to Walt Disney World that will also help with budgeting.

When packing your bags, its helpful to make a list of not only clothing and travel items needed, but also essential information.  For example, a list of medications for anyone traveling (especially seniors), doctor’s information (for any questions or concerns) and the nearest 24-hour pharmacy to your hotel (to refill any prescriptions or medications).

Sample Packing List to Get Started

  • Medications and any Medical Needs for Seniors

*List of medications and when they need to be taken
    *Contact information for primary doctor
*Address and telephone number of nearest or 24-hour pharmacy to hotel

  • Snacks and Water (very important to remain hydrated when walking and experiencing the parks and remember to pack snacks for little ones and seniors, who may need to take some food with medications)

  • Clothes (lightweight and quick drying and jackets or sweaters for cooler areas for seniors’ comfort)

  • Shoes (comfortable shoes like sneakers for the WDW parks and sandals)

  • Hats, Sunglasses

  • Swimsuit and Cover-up

  • Toys, Stroller, Cups, Diapers, Wipes, Bibs, Small Baby Cooler (or Diaper Bag) for Baby Food and other Baby Supplies

  • Phones, Chargers, Camera, Batteries

  • Tickets (theme park and travel itinerary)

2.
Making Reservations and Where to Stay

A great place to start is visiting the Walt Disney World website to reserve a Disney Resort hotel room, purchase theme park tickets and make dining reservations.  There are so many choices to select on the website that can be categorized based on length of stay, preference of amenities, character experiences, favorite type of dining and more.  Be sure to check out the Walt Disney World Facebook Page and Twitter for exclusive content, information, savings and special offers.  (In addition, you can contact a Disney reservation specialist, who could help you purchase theme park tickets, reserve hotel rooms, make dining selections and answer your questions).

FastPass+

Don’t Wait with Fast Pass+
Avoid long lines on popular rides with Disney FastPass+ Service. You’ll be able to reserve time to visit some attractions, entertainment experiences and Disney character experiences before you even leave home. You can start making selections as early as 30 days before you arrive, or up to 60 days before check-in when you have a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package. Also, Disney FastPass+ Service lets you reserve spots to view select fireworks, shows and parades and lets you make select changes on the go. Best of all, it’s complimentary because it’s included in your theme park admission so make sure to reserve some can’t-miss experiences that seniors and the entire family can do together.

MagicBands

Travel Lighter and with Less Worry Using MagicBands
MagicBands are colorful, waterproof wristbands—resembling a watch or bracelet—that you can quickly and easily touch to a sensor called a touch point. Cards work in a similar fashion, but physically resemble a plastic credit card or driver’s license. Both MagicBands and cards allow you to travel lighter throughout your vacation.  Use your MagicBand to enter your Disney Resort hotel room and access Walt Disney World Parks and Disney FastPass+ attractions and shows. You can even charge food and merchandise purchases to your Disney Resort hotel room (available during your hotel stay).

Its a helpful resource to have each member of your traveling party have their own MagicBand.  For example, if a senior wants to purchase some food or needs to return to their hotel room, they can just touch their MagicBand to a sensor and not have to worry about taking out keys or money.

To access Disney FastPass+ service, you’ll need to link a ticket or pass for each member of your travel party age three (3) or older.
4. Customize Your MagicBands.  Choose “Personalize MagicBands” to select MagicBands for your travel party. Be sure to choose your MagicBands and confirm your address at least 11 days prior to your arrival.

Take Advantage of Scooter, Wheelchair and Stroller Rentals

Even if a wheelchair, scooter or stroller isn’t needed daily, the parks are huge and can get anyone from young children to seniors easily tired.   Wheelchairs and ECV’s (electric scooters) are available for rental at all theme parks but must remain in the park.  Disney has designated specific scooter/wheelchair/ECV rental companies as approved vendors. This means these companies are the companies allowed to drop off rentals at the front desk/bell stand of a Disney resort for them to be held for guests. When a guests arrives to a hotel, their scooter/wheelchair/ECV will be waiting for them.  Guests using these approved companies will also be allowed to return their rentals to their resort’s front desk when they check out.

In addition to ECV rental locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort, several private approved companies in the local area also offer ECV rentals, as well as wheelchairs, strollers and other mobility product length-of-stay rentals.

Amphicars: Did you ever think you could ride a car that is also a boat? Well, now you can at Disney Springs with the vintage Amphicars! It’s an amazing interactive experience by land and water. You start on land by boarding a beautiful vintage car and then the car converts into a boat entering the water and embarking on a 20-minute tour of Disney Springs. My entire family was able to experience this incomparable attraction together in two different Amphicars.

Over 50 brand names and Disney-themed shops, boutiques, and kiosks give new meaning to the phrase “shop till you drop”. The crown of the shopping experience has to be the mega World of Disney Store. It is the largest Disney character store with 12 rooms full of apparel, collectibles, toys and more.

5.
Customize Meal Choices and Decide Where You Want to Eat with a Disney Dining Plan

Captain's Grille at Disney's Yacht Club Resort

I always recommend that people decide where they’ll eat after figuring out where they’ll be each day.  In addition, try to schedule at least one special meal together.  From Chef Mickey’s to Cinderella’s Royal Table at Cinderella Castle, there are many dining choices to please everyone in a multigenerational group.

Dining Plans
You can truly customize your meal experience for everyone in traveling with you by using a Disney Dining Plan. Whether you are having fun going through the parks or want to be able to relax at one of the Disney’ hotels, the simplicity of the Disney Dining Plan can help when making meal selections. Disney Dining Plans are options available exclusively to guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels with Magic Your Way Vacation Packages. When booking your vacation, purchase one of the Magic Your Way Vacation Packages that includes a Disney Dining Plan. Disney offers various Dining Plans according to the needs of the guests.

All of the Disney Dining Plans can be used at Quick-Service or Table-Service restaurants. Quick-Service restaurants offer a wide variety of food from soups, sandwiches and salads to pastas, fish, chicken and meat entrées. At Quick-Service locations, guests order food and beverages at a counter or register. Advanced dining reservations are not needed because you are able to grab and go. At Table-Service restaurants, guests are escorted to their table and waited on by a server. There are a wide variety of Table-Service restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort from family casual to character dining and dinner shows to the gourmet cuisine at the more upscale Signature Restaurants. It’s important to note that Table-Service restaurants, character dining and dinner shows book quickly and the restaurant and seating of your choice may be limited or may not be available during your visit. Reservations should be made ahead of time through the My Disney Experience app, at disneyworld.com/dine or by calling 407-WDW-DINE up to 180 days prior to your visit for the best options. Most of the restaurant locations in Disney Theme Parks, Disney Water Parks, Disney Springs and Disney Value, Moderate, Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resort hotels accept the Disney Dining Plans.

The Disney Dining Plans entitlements can be used for the always popular Character Dining. It’s an incredibly unique experience for the entire family that while you are enjoying a delicious meal together, your favorite Walt Disney World character comes up to you, hugs you, and you get a chance to capture the happiness. Character Dining is one of my children’s all-time favorite moments and we all love getting to the chance to meet and embrace our favorite Disney Characters. It is truly a one-of-kind experience for all.

All of the Disney Dining Plans (expect Quick Service) offers options for in-room private dining and dinner shows, which are family-style dining with live entertainment show performances throughout the meal, themed to the Resort setting.

The Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan includes two (2) Quick-Service meals and one (1) snack per person, per night of your package stay for everyone in the party ages 3 and over, beginning after check-in to your Disney Resort hotel.

7.
Remember the Importance of Naps and Taking a Break

One of the benefits of staying on-site at a Disney property, is the convenience of being able to easily return back to the hotel at anytime.  Whether by car, ferry, bus or monorail, guests are minutes from their hotel.  Grandparents may want a break to rest or children may need to stay on their regular nap schedule.  Its a good idea to keep nap/break time in mind when making FastPass+ selections or dining reservations so everyone can be able to enjoy themselves.

Use the Extra Magic Hours perk as guests of select Walt Disney World hotels to return back to the park in the evening or arrive before its upon to the public.  Each day, one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks opens one hour early or remains open up to 2 hours after regular closing time. Additionally, Disney Water Parks offer Extra Magic Hours during select times of year.

8.
Let Grandparents or Seniors in the Group Chose Their Must-Ride or Experience

Ask grandparents/seniors what they want to see, ride or experience.  Its easy with younger travelers to be racing from Space Mountain to Test Track, but prioritize key events and rides that a grandparent/senior wants to enjoy so nobody misses that one ride they wanted to visit.  At #DisneySMMC, my mother really wanted to go Hollywood Studios – not only just to see the latest Star Wars attractions – but because she really likes The Great Movie Ride and she had not been on it for a long time.  Being on one of her favorite rides with my dad, her sister, grandkids and her daughter, totally made her day and trip for her.

9.
Have Grandparents Spend Time Alone with Grandkids or Help with Babysitting
(if possible)

My oldest son just graduated high school and we had to submit family pictures for his memories slideshow.  Some of the most cherished memories that were flashed on the big screen, in front of his grandparents, were the times he spent having fun with them alone at Disney.  It brought tears to our eyes to see him again in those pictures as a young child with Disney characters and with his grandparents by his side.  They are truly unforgettable and priceless memories for both my son and my parents.  In addition, grandparents can help mom & dad have some probably much-needed adult time (or date night) while they are busy enjoying themselves with their grandchildren at the parks or relaxing by the pool at their hotel.

If both grandparents and parents want to go out together, consider Disney’s children’s activity centers or in-room childcare.  Our kids are big fans of “kid’s clubs” because they eat a play games, sing & dance, watch movies, make themed crafts, eat a kid-friendly meal, etc. They love the feeling of being at their own club and it gives us an opportunity to have a parents/adults’ night out.

10.
Be Flexible with Your Day

After choosing your favorite attractions using FastPass+, remember to relax.  Enjoy your day in the theme parks.  Don’t try to over-schedule every minute.  Allow for spontaneity and silliness.  Whether, you want to stop for ice cream or take time to shop for some Disney gear, be able to adapt to any unscheduled or unplanned activities or occurrences.  It will take the stress out of trying to perfectly plan your trip.

No matter what your plans are, remember its Walt Disney World – The Happiest Place on Earth! Enjoy the magic, imagination, fun and spend time doing what is important
creating memorable moments together!

Disclosure: As an invited guest of Disney, I was invited to the 2016 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.  Registration, accommodations and some meals were provided by Disney, however, all opinions expressed here are my own and based on my family’s (50+ years) of personal experiences at Walt Disney World.

Five Reasons to Love the Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge at Epcot

As part of the special offerings for the Disney Vacation Club’s 25th anniversary celebration, an all-new Disney Vacation Club Member Lounge will be opening on Monday, June 6th.  The lounge is for all DVC members and is located within the Imagination Pavilion in Epcot at Walt Disney World.

I attended a preview of the new DVC Member Lounge and shared some Facebook live videos on the (official FB blue check marked) Mami of Multiples Facebook Page.

1. Beautiful and Comfortable Tech-Ready Lounge

The DVC Member Lounge is artistically beautiful and colorful.  The warm and bright hues help to showcase the modern decor and very comfortable seating areas throughout the lounge.  The lounge is not only equipped with charging stations featuring plugs and USB ports for your mobile devices but also iPad Pros are available for use by all guests of the lounge. Complimentary WiFi is included as well.  If a member needs to check email, they can do so with the iPads or if they need to print out a boarding pass, they can comfortably sit at one of the available computers and use the printers.  The lounge has the convenience of a business office with the comfort of a home office.

2. Kids are Welcomed

Unlike most “adults only” lounges, children are welcomed to the DVC Member Lounge.  Within the lounge is a kids section, which features video games to play (like Disney Infinity) a TV (that will be playing favorite Disney animated shorts) and comfy kids-ready furniture (so parents won’t have to worry if kids accidentally spill something).  Including the complimentary Wi-Fi, the lounge will help to keep kids entertained.

3. Complimentary Beverage Service

DVC Member Lounge Beverage AreaMembers (and their guests) can enjoy beverages at the lounge with the complimentary beverage area that has a Keurig machine and three Coke Freestyle machines.  The Coke Freestyle machines offer over 100 different soft drink flavors so its a helpful way to beat the Florida heat or the Keurig will be a quick way to reenergize with a quick pick-me-up of coffee.

4. On-Site DVC Member Services

Want to plan your next vacation? Have questions about your current stay? The lounge will be staffed by DVC Member Services Advisors (RCI) that can assist from making a dining reservation to questions about vacation club exchanges or other DVC destinations.

5. Open Everyday
For the convenience of the members, the DVC Member Lounge will be open daily from 10AM – 6PM.  Members can bring 5 additional guests with them to the lounge.

See Ken Potrock, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Disney Vacation Club, speak about the 25th celebration and the lounge: HERE and another preview video: HERE

To learn more information, visit the DVC 25th anniversary website and DVC Member Lounge webpage.   The DVC Member Lounge is wonderful perk for DVC Members and their guests.  Its conveniences and amenities will make it a great respite and resource.

My parents started bringing me to Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida since I was 6 months old and it was from these trips that my love for Disney began.

As it has been with Disney in the past, its already been an incredible year with Disney because thanks to Walt Disney World (and Latina Magazine), our family had a magical vacation experience at Walt Disney World Resort. I have been sharing my Walt Disney World Resort vacation experiences on my Latina.com blog column (and Mami of Multiples), plus giving tips on how to plan an unforgettable Disney experience.

Walt Disney World Vacation Series: Experience the Unforgettable Moments and Cherished Memories at Walt Disney World Resort

It’s almost impossible to put into words how much Walt Disney World Resort (and everything having to do with Disney) has impacted my family and me. From the beginning, of coming to Walt Disney World Resort annually with my parents, starting at the age of 6 months old, to having my honeymoon at Walt Disney World Resort and now raising my children next to Walt Disney World Resort, the magic that is Disney has been an important part of our lives.

This adventure has been very special to me because I was able to share it with not only my husband and older children but also with my parents and my infant baby. My parents are in their senior years and I ’am the youngest of their children. The baby marks their 15th grandchild and my 4th child. My children are fortunately being raised alongside my parents and their grandparents. These memories of time spent together are among the most cherished memories we all will share together as a family. Walt Disney World Resort has been part of many treasured moments that have created unforgettable memories for us.

Thanks to Walt Disney World (and Latina Magazine), our family was able experience an unforgettable vacation at Walt Disney World Resort.  The incredible memorable moments shared together with my parents, husband and children are ones that we all will never forget!

Beyond Organic Gardening with the Tower Garden System

The other night I had a dream about my childhood home in south Florida. I dreamed we went there and the current owners had let my mom’s garden become overrun with weeds. I felt so sad because we have such beautiful memories in that garden. I then asked the owners if I could have the garden since it’s so sentimental to me. Have you ever woken up from a dream and realized how bizarre it was? That was me. Obviously I can’t actually pick up this large soil garden with wooden beams, screen, and a fancy irrigation system…okay maybe it was just a hose with little holes in it (I will have to chat with my sister, the family memory keeper, for specifics). All this to say that the garden, if it exists today, is not going anywhere. However, this got me thinking about the joyful memories and strong life lessons my mom created for us with that garden.

Tower Garden Baby

Yesterday Payton and I harvested our own green beans and sugar snap peas to snack away on in the backyard. They were as crisp and juicy as I remember from my childhood. Not as crisp as the organic ones from the grocery store. Crisp like garden-fresh-didn’t take-3 weeks-to-get-to-us crisp! It makes my heart so full spending time outside bonding with her like that, and thinking about all the things I’ll teach her in the years to come using our aeroponics system.

Tower Garden Plant

This is the first time in my adult life that I’ve ever gardened. I have always valued clean eating, but honestly didn’t know the first thing about maintaining a garden. Besides, as home renters, I assumed my only option for growing food would be in ceramic pots. When I saw the tower garden I was instantly intrigued. Naturally, I had questions. If we were going to buy something like this, I had to be sure it was a good family investment. One that I could be successful with and easily save us money.

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

Here’s a look at my thought process….

Looks awesome! How does it work?

And straight from the experts I learned…

“1. Plants grow in a soilless medium called rockwool. You’ll start seedlings using the kit we ship with every Tower Garden (unless you decide to buy seedlings). And when your seedlings are ready—usually about three weeks after germination—you’ll plant them in your Tower Garden. Instead of soil, Tower Garden plants grow in a medium called rockwool, which provides plant roots with oxygen and consistent moisture, encouraging rapid, healthy growth.

2. The reservoir stores the plant nutrient solution. Tower Garden Mineral Blend, our proprietary plant food, powers Tower Garden. Containing the pure earth minerals essential to healthy plant development, the Mineral Blend provides an all-natural “shortcut” for plants, which typically must source nutrients from decomposing organic matter in soil. The result is greater nutrient uptake and superior growth for a range of plants. You’ll fill the 20-gallon reservoir at the base of your Tower Garden with a mixture of Mineral Blend and water.

3. The solution cascades down the Tower Garden, nourishing plants. A low-wattage, submersible pump in the reservoir pushes the nutrient solution to the top of the Tower Garden through a small central pipe. The nutrient solution then drips down the inside of the Tower Garden, evenly cascading over the exposed plant roots. A timer ensures this process repeats continuously—usually in 15-minute increments—to deliver the ideal amount of oxygen, water and nutrients to plants at the perfect time.

4. In a few weeks, plants are harvest‑ready! Aside from a few minor maintenance tasks, such as checking water levels and cleaning the pump filter, Tower Garden will take care of itself. And in just a few short weeks, you’ll be enjoying abundant homegrown produce, harvested at its peak (so you can be at yours).”

Click here for more information on how the Tower Garden works, and how it’s been allowing my family to grow 30% more, 3x faster, with 98% less water usage than a traditional soil garden!

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

That’s awesome! I wonder if I could make something like this…

Through my research, I found out that, unlike other garden fixtures using PVC pipes and other toxic materials, the Tower Gardens use a special plastic preventing them from leaching any chemicals. They use “virgin” ABS plastic (not made from any recycled plastic), are BPA-free, UV stable, naturally opaque, and FDA compliant and cleared for food content in US & Canada. So no, no I could not easily make this myself.

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

But I really don’t know anything about gardening in general…

This part was really exciting to me! When I bought my Tower Garden I was added to a secret Facebook group called “My Tower Garden Community”. Here, over 400 Tower Garden growers post pictures, ask questions, and help each other to be successful! I love having such a large support system standing behind me, and believe me when I say I take advantage of their experience and knowledge!

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

I’m in love! How much does it cost?

The Tower Garden is $45.25/month for 12 months and then lasts you a lifetime! When you buy your tower you get a complete growing system with everything you need to start gardening, right down to your seeds- no sneaky extra expenses! You can see a complete cost break down and place an order securely here like I did. My tower and all of it’s included supplies arrived in a few days, and took me under 30 minutes to set up… with a baby on my hip, none the less. Easy peasy!

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

So here we are, now 3 months in and I’m chatting everyone’s ears off about it! My favorite thing about our Tower Garden is how successful I’ve been with growing. David will make comments to me about how large our plants are getting, or how awesome it is when Payton and I go outside and cut off produce for dinner. This gives me such a sense of accomplishment and feeling of pride to be making the additional household contribution. It’s just an extra bonus that gardening with our tower really doesn’t require much of my time or energy!

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

Currently Payton and I are growing spinach, kale, 3 different varieties of tomato, basil, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumber, green beans, jalapeños (Daddy’s special request), bell peppers, bibb lettuce, romaine, celery, spring mix, happy rich broccoli, arugula, and watermelon! We’re able to grow pretty much any fruit, veggie, or herb we’d like though! You can see a complete list of the possibilities here.

www.shawnamartell.towergarden.com

A LITTLE FUN FACT FOR MY FELLOW DISNEY LOVERS: The developer behind the Tower Garden System is Tim Blank, Chief Horticulturist for The Land at Disney’s Epcot!
